These closures will be in place so bridge protection work can be carried out on Bairds Road and East Tamaki bridges. The work will be carried out at night between the hours of 9pm and 5am, due to reduced traffic volumes and to minimise disruption to road users. We expect the work will take around 7 weeks to complete, and the following closures will be in place during this time: February - full closure northbound and southbound lanes -- follow signposted detours When possible - one or more lanes closed northbound and southbound -- motorway still open Please note that detours could add up to 5 minutes to standard journey times. For updates and information about these works, or any other motorway issues please call Auckland Motorways on 09 5200 200. A symphony needs a powerful delivery and there s nothing as musi- cally powerful as a sym- phony orchestra in full cry. Maestro Uwe Grodd will conduct the full Manukau Symphony Orchestra of 80-plus musicians when they play Tchaikovsky s fifth symphony at the TelstraClear Pacific Events Centre in Manu- kau next month. And the Manukau Courier is giving readers a chance to experience the emotion of the sym- phony for themselves with a free ticket give- away. The Tchaikovsky V Genesis Energy Autumn Concert programme is not restricted to Tchaikovsky. It opens with the exuberant Huapango by Moncayo, a joyful treat- ment of Mexican folk tunes. Then, in his first appearance with the orchestra, Italian classi- cal guitarist Alberto Mesirca will play Rod- rigo s Concierto de Aran- juez, inspired by the gar- dens of the royal palace of Aranjuez in Spain. It s the most famous classical guitar concerto, particularly its beautiful main melody in the sec- ond movement.
