Photo: KAREN MANGNALL This week's Good Bloke Award goes to Peter Chambers of Mangere Bridge. He's nominated by neighbour Moana Herewini, who writes: Peter is retired and is a fulltime caregiver to his ailing wife. He also provides support to elderly neighbours who he visits while walking his dog, to check on their health, as well as caring for them when they are in strife. For example, my nextdoor neighbour fell and needed hospital attention. Peter liaised with the hospital and the neighbour and provided ongoing support through his regular visits as well as keep- ing those who lived nearby up to date with what was happening. In addition to immediate neighbourly support Peter is actively involved in community endeavours to improve our Mangere Bridge environment. I consider Peter to be a great neighbour and definitely a Good Bloke.'' The Good Bloke Award recognises the men in our community who go the extra mile to help others. Send your nomination including daytime contact phone numbers for you and your nominee to: Good Bloke Award, Manukau Courier, PO Box 76-400, Manukau 2241, or email edmc@ snl.co.nz.
