Lights Stay on at Aorere College Aorere College Adult Education continues to offer a wide range of day and night classes through its school-based programme. Many schools closed their doors to adult edu- cation classes in 2010 but Aorere College has kept its classes going and this year is expand- ing on programmes run last year. Co-ordinator Linda Melrose says that the Aorere College pro- gramme is one of the two largest programmes now offered in New Zealand. There has been an emphasis on embedding literacy and numeracy components into all the classes offered and courses are usually eight weeks, compared with shorter courses of the past. This year the ACE pro- gramme will run over three nights and there is a huge range of new classes being offered. The focus is still on lifelong learning and encouraging those who want to upskill, re-train or learn something new. There is something for everyone. If you want to improve your English, celebrate your culture, improve your qualifications, exer- cise or pursue a new interest then Aorere Col- lege probably has the course for you. The Aorere College Adult Education office is open for enrolments from February 1. Contact the school for a brochure or further information. Phone 279 0671 or email tmalcolm@ aorere.ac.nz. Courses can be viewed online at www.aorere.ac.nz.
