Photo: KAREN MANGNALL This week's Good Bloke Award goes to Terry Shackles of Papatoetoe. He's nominated by neighbour Joan Powell, who writes: ''My partner/friend recently passed away. During the time he was at the Papatoetoe Pensioner Flats at the Kenderdine Resthome, and finally his last days at Papatoetoe Private Hospital, Terry was a regular visitor. ''This meant a great deal to me as I could not be there all the time. ''Terry came from the UK -- like my partner, so they had something in common -- which meant a lot to my friend as they could have some good discussions. ''Terry also kept an eye out for me, helping me with gardening chores, heavy lifting, etc. ''There were several times when I had to fly overseas and locally. Every time, Terry would take me and pick me up from the airport. ''I feel I am very lucky to have such a neighbour who looks out for me.'' Send your Good Bloke nomination to: Good Bloke Award, Manukau Courier, PO Box 76-400, Manukau 2241, or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
