The Amazing Maze n Maze invites kids of all ages to navigate an a maize ing corn maze in the shape of weird and wacky science. Now in their fifth year adjacent to Spookers Haunted Attractions, the Amazing Maze n Maize has a five hectare giant corn maze in their corn- field. By navigating the 12 kms of paths and finding the answers to quizzes as they go, visitors can spend around an hour being lost in the maze. There is a bridge in the middle to see where you re going or where you ve been, and visitors are given a flag to wave if they need help. This year s maize maze takes visitors on a trip around some weird and wacky facts; with over a 100 kernels of knowledge trivia posts hidden around the paths. Visiting the maze is great for groups, edu- cational field trips for schools, company picnics or group outings. Famil- ies spend quality time interacting as they navi- gate through the maze together. While a tough econ- omy may put a damper on many summer holidays, the Amazing Maze can offer affordable entertainment in their corn maze. A corn maze visit is a great activity for a family on a tight budget. It is an activity that all ages can enjoy, it gets the family to spend time outdoors together, and the mazes have other fun activities avail- able too, such as a bouncy castle UFO. See www.maze.co.nz for more details. Debt up More students are borrowing to pay for their study with 2009 seeing the largest increase since the student loan scheme started. The number of students borrowing rose by 11.3 percent to 198,723 in 2009, an increase of 20,211 from 2008, according to figures released by Stat- istics New Zealand (SNZ). The number of students receiving an allowance grew by 25.4 percent to reach 80,703, the largest increase since 1999. 2009 also saw the largest increase in new borrowers with 61,269 people taking up the scheme for the first time. The amount students were borrowing also increased, with the aver- age amount borrowed per year rising 0.6 percent to $6990 in 2009 compared to $6950 in 2008.
