12 MANUKAU COURIER, DECEMBER 14, 2010 NEWS 3360892AA Request for Application for MOCAP- Maori Obesity Community Action Plan Grants Counties Manukau District Health Board (CMDHB) invites Maaori Community groups within the Counties Manukau District to apply for funding for MOCAP Community Grant as part of Creating a Better Future Programme and in line with the Ministry of Health's Healthy Eating Healthy Action (HEHA) strategy. The purpose of the funding is for Maaori community groups to deliv e rin n o v ativ epr ogr a m s aim edatr edu cing Ma a o ri obe sity through improving nutrition practices and increasing physical activity. Programs should also incorporate other aspects of whanau wellbeing including promoting smoke free environments. The request for Applications is for a one off grant of up to $25,000 excluding G.S.T. There is a limited amount of funding available for these grants. Applicants will be expected to demonstrate their community leadership and connection within at least one of the following key localities (hub areas): 1. Papakura 2. Franklin 3. Mangere 4. Manurewa 5. Papatoetoe 6. Otara Applicants will need to demonstrate how their proposed initiative will address Maaori obesity and collaborate with other community providers. A copy of guidelines and application form is now available. All applications are to be submitted by 4pm 21 January 2011.
