The 69th anniversary of Pearl Harbour will be marked in Papakura this weekend. The New Zealand Warbirds Association is hosting an open day from 10am on Sunday at Ardmore Airport to mark the anniversary. It s the final Warbirds open day for the year and it also marks the 75th anniversary of the first flight of the DC3. The plane is based at Ardmore and still carries its RNZAF livery and is seen flying around Auck- land most Sundays. A wide range of former military aircraft will also be on view this weekend and the public will be able to see pilots practis- ing their display routines at 10.30am, 12.30pm and 2.30pm. Services such as pol- ice, fire and St Johns will be demonstrating their skills and Ardmore- based flying training clubs will also be there. The $10 entry fee for those 14 years and over will go toward com- pleting the further devel- opment of the Warbirds aviation library and dis- play facility as part of the visitor centre.
