By MELISSA KINEALY Not every kid gets an early Christmas present of a party with big-name sport- ing stars. But around 200 special kids cel- ebrated with Warriors rugby league stars like Steve Rapira, Ukuma Ta-ai and Jacob Lillyman, Steelers and Blues rugby players and news pres- enter Wendy Petrie at the Kidz First Community Christmas Party at SkyCity last Saturday. Kids were greeted by Scotty the Sky Tower and his assistant Rainbow, and Clifford the Big Red Dog before head- ing inside to the balloon-filled room to hang out with celebrities and enjoy face painting, t-shirt decorating and a shared lunch. They also got to meet Santa. Luke Brooks, 5, from Manurewa thought the Warriors were the coolest''. The youngster from Manu- rewa Central School also made friends with a new sparring partner -- boxer Shane Cameron who's an ambassador for Kidz First. Mayor Len Brown belted out Christmas tunes as Kidz First Com- munity children, their siblings and parents enjoyed the festive cel- ebration. SkyCity Auckland puts on the annual event and went all out to pro- vide food, entertainment and plenty of Christmas cheer for everyone.
