More than 80 New Zea- land Career College students celebrated their graduation recently in a ceremony that marked the beginning of a new journey for each of them. Students graduated with certificates and diplomas in Business and Computing and Early Childhood Edu- cation, with some plan- ning to go on to further study and others ready to join the workforce. Graduates were joined by friends, family and the College's academic staff and were treated to performances by Indians and Samoan drum group Tatau, reflecting some of the many different cultures at New Zealand Career College (NZCC). Graduating student Nereda Blair shared some inspirational thoughts with the crowd, saying: Remember that knowledge is power but imagination is even more powerful and you have to always dream of the end result.'' After completing her National Certificate in Early Childhood Edu- cation and Care (Level 3), she is now enrolled in the Diploma in Early Childhood Education (Pasifika) (Level 5) at NZCC, another step towards her end result'' of becoming a fully quali- fied ECE teacher. NZCC CEO Feroz Ali says graduation is always a proud occasion for students, their famil- ies and their teachers as they celebrate taking the next step towards their chosen study or career paths. Our focus is not just about getting students through their course, but on providing practical knowledge and skills that are relevant and transferable outside the classroom. For example, students on early child- hood education progra- mmes take part in prac- ticum placements, giving them hands-on work experience in local centres that is invaluable in preparing them for future jobs.'' NZCC is open for enrolments for its 2011 programmes, offering different certificates and diplomas in Early Child- hood Education, Health and Business. All courses are NZQA registered and accredited and the college is approved by the New Zealand Tertiary Edu- cation Commission for government student loans and allowances. NZCC has campuses in Manukau, Auckland Central, Waitakere and North Shore and inter- national students are welcome. Phone 0800 88 NZCC (6922), email info@nzcc.- ac.nz or visit www.nzcc.ac.nz.
